Paris Traveler Series, 2013
Nichole & Evan Robertson

Cycle Across the City / Notre Dame
A bicycle with its basket full of flowers in front of the Notre Dame cathedral – the wheel merging with the rose window, the basket with the upper arches and the flowers with the trefoils and quatrefoils of the church facade.

I love travel posters – both for the sense of adventure they instill, and the way they allow the artist to take a complex subject like a city and distill it to a simple icon.

When it comes to Paris, it’s no secret that Nichole and I have a penchant for the pedestrian pleasures. So with this project, my aim was to create a series of travel-poster-inspired illustrations, but with a twist: to focus on the moments that you enjoy now and remember fondly later, rather than on the monuments, which instead serve only as an architectural backdrop. The result is a series of four prints that give a playful prominence to the things you do over the things you see.

Pendant Lamps, 2013
Yoshiyuki Hibino

hibino01

To be presented at Stockholm furniture fair are two designs by japanese designer Yoshiyuki Hibino + Beets inc. – the ‘pendant lights’. The collection follows a theme that ‘seeks news balance’ – in material, form and the process of making. The ‘pendant lamp’ is characterized by an elastic shade that is rolled-up to realize three different variations of the design. By using uncoated metal – a material that changes over time – the pendant lights infuse a harmony of form and material. Via designboom

The Jet Setters – Inspired by the glam style of California, Michael Kors once again taps Mario Testino (who has now shot the label’s campaigns for ten years now) to capture Karmen Pedaru and Simon Nessman in ultra-glossy images. “We wanted the campaign to highlight the crisp, graphic feel of the Spring collection in bold California colors,” says designer Michael Kors. +++ MOTION

Paperman, 2013
John Kahrs

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, “Paperman.” Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Paperman” pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

Nike: Vapour Trail
Director: Mark Zibert
Creative Director: Alberto Ponte, Mark Fitzloff, Susan Hoffman, Caleb Jensen
Art Director: Naoki Ga
Copywriter: Andrew Miller

There is something moving insanely fast out on the pitch. It’s creating a legendary trail of carnage in its wake. It’s pulling up the grass, lifting defenders into the air and taking the stadium with it. What could be moving at this uncatchable speed? Via bestadsontv
